I scrubbed the hulls about 3 months ago (after being applied for only a month), and now it has barnacles growing on the hull - small enough to remove but just annoying.... Small areas or loose or flaking antifoul can be removed with a paint scraper. However, if many layers of antifoul have been allowed to build up and large areas have poorly adhered to the hull it makes sense to strip the hull back to a sound surface.
